…….I consider myself down to earth and comfortable

I’m a person who constantly takes mental notes, follows my trail of curiosity, and leaves sketch pads in nearly every corner of my life. My heart is fed when I create something that reflects my wild imagination and optimism but above all my heart is fed when my pieces simply make people smile.

When I wrap my head around that diversity of my inspiration Georgia, Johnny and Mother Teresa it’s no wonder my art is rooted in the idea that we all shine brighter when we embrace our beautiful selves.

……. I’m inspired by beeswax

Watercolor is my first love but when I was introduced to batik I was excited. I was drawn to the unique look and the delicate rice paper. I feel I paint with hot beeswax creating movement and shape. I add color and intensity with watercolor. I really different approach to other paint mediums.

My Artist Story

I work with my hands…melting beeswax and damar resin together. Mixing these two mediums allows me to express different ideas. The wax hardens over a finished Batik, preserving it and adding texture.

I work with my head…imagining and sketching an idea that will tell a story. The words turn into objects and the color combinations not only work together but excite the eye.

I work with my heart…carefully painting layers of hot beeswax onto delicate rice paper and then adding watercolor washes between those boundaries. At the end of this process the entire piece is covered with beeswax. Underneath values have been preserved and above it’s almost unrecognizable. When the wax is ironed off it’s like a gift.
